STREET CLEANING A remnant of one of Th(e)’s forays into performance art STREET CLEANING was a non voluntary interactive work that Th(e) created to promote interracial harmony and good hygiene. Random samplings of different ethnicities would be ‘recruited’ from the streets, put in a convertible and run through a carwash. “The car…the car it looks clean. But the people…the people…they don’t look so good.” If it wasn’t for a timely outcry that claimed this piece was an expression of genocide it is highly likely this work would have died without a whimper. The sign is all that remains of the work today.
